Who We Are

We Don't Know
What Fear Is

2024 Montgomery County Veterans Coalition Veterans Day Parade This year we are pleased to announce the formation of the Montgomery County Veterans coalition to the City of Crawfordsville and the Board of Works. This new organization was formed to bring all the Veterans Service Organizations In the community together to better serve the veterans and their families. Our organization is comprised of the following: American Legion Post 72, Dorthey Q Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 103, veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1431, all of their Auxiliaries, and the Montgomery County Service Officer. It will be Monday, November 11, 2024. The laying of the wreath will be at the monument at the courthouse at 10:30 AM. The judging of floats will be at Main and Pike. The staging area will begin at Main St and Water in front of the Post Office and continue east on Main and continue behind the Lew Wallace Museum. The parade element will start from the staging point and head west down Main St to turn left at Green St. and then turn left head to Pike St. Once at Pike St. the elements will turn left and head east to the city building where the participants will disperse, and the parade will end. This is the same route used last year. The timeline for this event begins with the Wreath Laying Ceremony which will be held on the northeast corner of Main St. and Washington St./231 at 10:30 AM. This ceremony will also include the Honor Guard Ceremony with rifles and the playing of Taps in front of the monuments on the corner. The parade will begin promptly at 11:11 AM signifying the importance of the date and time. Remembering the signing of the Armistice. Dave Peach and Forcht Broadcasting has agreed to do a live broadcast of the event. We would like to have the announcers for the parade stationed at the corner Main and Green St in front of the Marie Canine Cancer Center Water Fountain Downtown Crawfordsville. Last year we were blessed to have 30 Golf Carts provided for veterans to use, as many of us have mobility issues. Every single golf cart was used with the need for more. This year we would like to ask for 40 golf carts if available for use as we anticipate a larger response this year. Once the parade is completed there will be a meal for all veterans and their families at VFW Post 1431.
